Ledgent is partnering with a valued client in the Tampa area to identify a Staff Accountant for a temp-to-hire opportunity. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and is looking for a long-term career opportunity with a growing organization.
The Staff Accountant will play a key role in supporting the company's day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close process, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and overall financial accuracy. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, analytical, and able to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and account adjustments.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
- Perform bank, balance sheet, and general ledger account reconciliations.
- Analyze financial data and investigate discrepancies.
- Support the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
- Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed.
- Review and reconcile intercompany transactions.
- Support external audits by gathering and preparing documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiencies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments to resolve accounting-related issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 2+ years of accounting experience in a Staff Accountant or similar role.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
- Experience with month-end close and account reconciliations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and formulas.
- Experience working with ERP or accounting software systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a mid-sized corporate environment.
- Exposure to financial reporting and variance analysis.
- Knowledge of ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage Intacct, or similar platforms.
- Experience supporting audits and compliance initiatives.
